WALTER MARTIN & PALOMA MUÑOZ

Cold as it has been lately, things could be worse. Witness the desolate little worlds assembled in snow globes and photographed by these two collaborators. A pair of overalled rustics drown children instead of kittens in a well; couples in black robes and hoods waltz in a clearing; a procession of villagers bear torches and heads on stakes. The most disturbing images are of tiny solitary figures setting out through the woods with briefcases or bags of groceries, woefully ill-equipped for the icy chill ahead.
